Arsenal sanctioned after UEFA Champions League final as PSG also issued punishment
UEFA has sanctioned Arsenal following the 2026 UEFA Champions League final, while Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have also been handed disciplinary measures over incidents linked to the showpiece event.
According to UEFA, the sanctions relate to breaches of its disciplinary regulations during and around the final. Although the exact nature of every offence differs between the two clubs, UEFA said it acted after reviewing reports from match officials, security personnel and its disciplinary inspectors.
Arsenal’s punishment is expected to include a financial penalty, while PSG have also received sanctions over the conduct of their supporters. UEFA stressed that clubs are responsible for the behaviour of their fans and must ensure safety, security and respect for competition rules at all times.
The European governing body has repeatedly warned clubs about issues such as crowd disturbances, the use of pyrotechnics, objects thrown onto the pitch and other actions that can endanger players, officials and spectators. Disciplinary action is intended to discourage future violations and maintain order at major competitions.
Neither Arsenal nor PSG have indicated that the sanctions will affect their participation in next season’s UEFA competitions. However, both clubs are expected to review the disciplinary findings and strengthen measures aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future.
UEFA’s latest decision serves as another reminder that success on the pitch must be matched by responsible conduct off it, with clubs remaining accountable for events involving their supporters during Europe’s biggest football competitions.
